Collect Your Favorite Animal!
When I started collecting crystal animals I wasn't meaning to. I happened to come across a lovely crystal cardinal in a catalog. I fell in love with it. He is brilliant red and quite a standout sitting on my kitchen windowsill. It is a Langham glass piece. Before that time I'd never considered collecting crystal animals. Today I have quite a collection.
Most fine crystal makers have a selection of animals. Some collect from one particular crystal maker, and some don't care who the crystal maker is as long as the animal is what they collect.
Lalique has been manufacturing fine crystal for over 80 years. Lalique crystal animals range from horses to monkeys to rabbits and birds, panthers, cats and dogs, jaguars and rams. Some of these Lalique crystal animal figurines are offered in colored crystal, such as the Zeila Panther offered in clear, black and amber. A lot of their crystal animals are offered in frosted crystal glass. Other crystal color offerings are rose, red and antinea (green). One of the most breathtaking crystal animals offered by Lalique is their 15" crystal clear Horse Head, offered at $33,000.
Well known Waterford Irish crystal has a selection of animal figurines. The crystal animals offered by Waterford crystal are crystal clear. The offer an elephant, bull, salmon, goose, duck, dolphin, an eagle and a jumping horse just to mention a few. They offer a new Waterford Blue Angelfish paperweight. These Waterford crystal animals run between 5" and 9" tall and sell between $150 and $300. Waterford also offers a variety of smaller offerings too. Another well known crystal maker is Swarovski. Swarovski's Lovlots Collection is a perfect way to start a youngster on the road to collecting. These are whimsical crystal animals like Pinky Mo the Cow, Ricci the Moose and Winwin the Turtle. Swarovski has a beautiful faceted crystal stallion with a long flowing tail and mane of frosted crystal. OK. So you don't want to spend a lot of money on crystal animals. You don't have to! Do an online search and you'll be amazed a what you find. You'll find a variety of specialty shops selling a wide range of crystal animals. Want crystal elephants or crystal frogs?
